Brainhunter is currently seeking “Project Manager” to work for our valued Client. This is a one year contract opportunity with possibility of extension.
Project Manager: Roles & Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is responsible for the management of the cost, schedule, scope and technical performance of a portfolio of Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) Closure Project, as defined in the project performance baseline and is accountable to the Senior Project Manager, WL D&D. The Project Manager ensures that WL Closure project work is performed safely and in compliance with requirements of the Site License, QA Program and Facility Authority. The Project Manager will proactively manage the personnel performing the scope of work, and implement project management including responsibility to plan, control and monitor the execution of all project work. They will provide detailed reporting and communication on project status, with emphasis on resolving issues and correcting variances to plans. The Project Manager will hold budget responsibility for work ranging from $2M to $20M annually and approximately 4 to 10 direct reporting staff. They will ensure appropriate execution of the WL Closure contract and oversee management of contracts to deliver Projects. Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements.

· Good understanding of change management concepts.
· The Project Manager has broad knowledge of and commitment to Client's corporate objectives, policies and procedures, and a strong sense of the prevailing industry and regulatory culture.
· Initiative and judgement to organize and maintain flow of work and accuracy of records;
· Must be punctual, dependable and safety minded;
· Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines;
· Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and time management is required;

· Able to work extended hours and off normal work shifts to support project needs
Functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Safety
·The Project Manager enforces management expectations regarding safe work
practices, consequences of not following safe work practices and performance
management issues.
· Ensure that WL Closure Project work is performed safely and in compliance with
requirements of the Site License and Facility Authority.
· Maintains confidentiality in all matters.
Continuing Education:
· Participates and maintains up to date, all safety and operational training offered through
the company;
· Assumes personal responsibility and is accountable for maintaining current skills by
attending all training required by the site, viewing assigned videos, reading articles and
participating in seminars as required; and
· Shares learned knowledge and skills with peers.
Other Related Responsibilities:
· Identifying and reporting any real or potential safety hazards; wearing all safety equipment
related to your position as well as participating in all safety-training offered through the
facility;
· Adheres to Workplace Safety and health procedures, WHIMIS program; keeping current
with practices; working in a prudent and safe manner and informing other employees if
they are using unsafe work practices or equipment; and
Performs other duties as assigned
The incumbent of the position must demonstrate:
· Internal communication: Frequent communications (daily/weekly) with the General
Manager and Directors of the WL Senior Management Team (SMT), and managers, and
technical specialists from other organizations. This would include interfacing with support
groups such as Waste Management program, Maintenance and Work Planning,
Engineering, Nuclear Compliance programs, etc.
· The Project Manager has superior oral and written communication skills in communicating
with a variety of organizations and at a variety of levels. The Project Manager provides
direction and rigorous review of the work planning and reporting documentation.
· Contributing to effective, timely reports including annual business plans, budgets, quarterly
forecasts, business line reports, and project reports including issues and actions to address.
· Develop and maintain good relationships with peers and other sites for the purpose of collaboration on technical approaches, lessons learned and other information sharing.
· The Project Manager is responsible for initiating, building and sustaining positive and
professional relationships with decision makers both internal and external, to effect
successful project delivery. This includes for the purposes of exchanging information,
advancing project execution, problem solving, influencing outcomes and managing risks.
The key internal relationships are with Project Controls, Strategic Planning, Programs &
Regulatory Compliance, WL Facilities, Maintenance and Work Planning, Project staff,
Decommissioning and Waste Management peers and management.
· Effective communication skills and maintains interpersonal relationships within the service areas as well as other stakeholders;
· Collaboration with other departments and other roles in the organization, as well as
contractors;
· Maintain professionalism while having a questioning attitude;
· Responsibilities to report all incidents, near misses and concerns in respect to the
Whiteshell Reporting Program; and
· Abilities to work and be an integral part of a team.
